"Pope" "Cracks" "Down"

Hey, anyone remember a kind of meme or game that was running around the Catholic blogs a few years ago? You put the search terms "Pope" "Cracks" "Down" into google and see how many womynpriests, dancing nuns, gay Masses and clown liturgies you could come up with.

It was sort of fun.

Well, I've got one:

Pope finally launches crackdown on world's largest illicit Catholic shrine and suspends 'dubious' priest

This is the Daily Mail.

I really like the "finally". The guy must be one of us.

Can someone tell me, or even propose a plausible theory about why John Paul II allowed the Church to go to crap for 26 years?

And another, related question, why everyone thinks he was so wonderful?

I have a friend who said once that he thought it was because he was actually "just a little nuts". I have to say, the idea had never occurred to me before. It might explain it. But what about the other thing? I thought we didn't usually agree with the MSM on which Catholics are wonderful. They usually like the ones I don't like.

I've wondered why JPII didn't do anything about Medjugorje. Lately I've come to the conclusion that discipline/ruling just wasn't his thing.

Yeah great pope hey?

That was kind of his job.

You're supposed to leave the Rockstar thing to the actual rock stars.

‘Soon the Vatican will intervene with something explosive to unmask once and for all who is behind this deceit’.

Oh, Please God let it be so!

I live in Portland, Oregon and we have a parish here that was visited by one of these “seers” who supposedly had a vision at the church, which promptly infected a great number of the few Catholics we actually have in Oregon. Now if they aren’t walking labyrinths or embracing “Women Center Spirituality” they are babbling on inanely about this crap!

I always ask the babblers how they can trust the word of people who claim they were told directly by the Virgin to be priests and nuns and then not one of them did. If they really did see the Virgin and she really did tell them to be religious then they are directly rebelling against God in a way that most of us can’t even fathom.

The babblers rarely answer the question; instead they say “The fruits! Just look at the fruits!”

So I say, “You mean disobedience, heresy, sexual immorality and using money from honest pilgrims to live luxurious lives while the rest of their country suffers in poverty; those fruits? You know God gave us saints via the Holocaust. Is that good too?”

For some reason I get a lot of dirty looks at this point in the conversation.
