Just when you thought it was safe to go visit the monks

Holy Schamoley!

A great white shark was spotted by a fisherman off Caldey Island

David John said the creature emerged from the water just 100 yards from his boat with its mouth open.

He said he showed the picture to an Irish shark fisherman working in the area who confirmed it must have been one of the legendary predators.

"At first I thought it was a seal," he said.

"It wasn't until I got home that I looked again and realised what I'd got."

"You can't mistake the shape of the head and you can see an eye and the mouth.

"And from what I understand, great whites do break the water like this."

"I saw a big splash - it must have been a fair size," he said. "It certainly looks like a shark from the photos.

"We do get basking sharks in the area and last year a local fisherman caught a thresher shark in his nets."

Escaped bulls terrorise Tenby
TWO “irate and aggressive” bulls were shot dead by police marksmen after going on the rampage at a seaside resort.

The animals broke free from their container at around 10am and ran amok in the Castle Hill area of Tenby – tossing one man into the air and leaving another hanging over rocks after he jumped over a wall to avoid being charged.

Dyfed-Powys Police had to cordon off the area to destroy the bulls after one broke through a makeshift steel barrier erected in a bid to contain them.

The animals had just been transported by boat from nearby Caldey Island when the drama unfolded.
