(Maybe only funny to me, but...)
Nun stepping down as leader of Franciscan Montessori Earth School
The leader said “Franciscan” would turn off any school parent who’s not religious. “Montessori,” a barely known term, would leave parents confused. And “Earth?” Well, only hippies would want their offspring in such a place.
“The only good part of the name of the school was ‘School,’ ”
...um. Yes.
The school combines this respect for life with the Montessori philosophy that children learn best through self-directed work, personal interests and life experiences. And the “Earth” school strongly encourages environmental responsibility in its students, and is physically centered on an atrium filled with garden beds the students tend.
"...the Montessori philosophy that children learn best through self-directed work, personal interests and life experiences."
Yep. That's a hippie school all right. I remember it ooooooooh so well.
