What I am seeing is a poke at Vatican II ('...take any steps you want if you have cleared it with the Pontiff/everybody say his own Kyrie Eleison...') - especially since the CD I have has Lehrer's dry intro of:
"The Catholic Church has made some changes lately in an attempt to become more...commercial."
Well, there is rather loose talk about "the wafer". Having suffered through a dozen sneering articles in Canada about "Wafergate", such things rankle, rather.
