It has to be like that to allow Our Lord to carry out his mission of redemption. So, in that sense Holy Democracy is a God-given instrument necessary for our salvation. As was Saintly Communism and all of the other isms....And so on and so forth.
Let's see - our democratic republic based on the Constitution versus a theocracy based on ayatollahs' interpretation of the Qur'an and Hadiths? or a monarchy such as Saudi Arabia? or a dictatorship such as Libya is enjoying? I'll take democracy, thanks.
