It's William Shatner's 80th birthday today.

I think it's too bad that for a lot of folks I know, Shatner is just the wacky conservative guy on the recent (2002-09 or thereabouts) television show "Boston Legal" -- the guy who provokes all the other lawyers and serves a dual dramatic purpose as laughingstock and fall guy provoking all those liberal sanctimonious politically correct closing arguments. Star Trek seems like Shakespeare by comparison.
