Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.
Some Anglican priests who collapse do not a major global scandal make. Rethinking mandatory celibacy (which Cardinal Ratzinger said more than once could be done without prejudice to the Faith) would open the doors of priesthood to loyal married men.
The credibility crisis is massive here in the US and it is affecting also many, many Catholics. We need more good priests, not less.
Making celibacy voluntary will not harm celibacy for those who choose it, but it would likely bring many, many more vocations in a time which sorely needs it.
Bishops as in the East could be drawn exclusively from the monastic-celibates.
