The condom-use-to-prevent-HIV argument has always been laughable to me because not even the most die-hard supporter of it actually believes it deep down where it counts. It is merely a sop to one's conscience and sense of self-preservation in the face of seductive temptation. To those who've spouted this nonsense to me, I've countered with a hypothetical question: if you absolutely knew that the object of your lust was HIV-ridden, would you still forge ahead behind the protection of that thin film of latex? Hesitation means that one does not really believe the lie.
