Sound familiar?

I notice that there were indeed protests over the celebration of Bastille Day yesterday...over the inclusion of the Syrian president.

But there are still some people who remember what it really represented:

Their tame scientists dreamed up all kinds of new ideas the poisoning of flour and alcohol and water supplies, the setting up of a tannery in Angers which would specialise in the treatment of human skins; the investigation of methods of burning large numbers of people in large ovens, so their fat could be rendered down efficiently.
...
"Even if there should be patriots [that is, Republicans] in Vendée," Turreau himself said, "they must not spared. We can make no distinction. The entire province must be a cemetery." And so it was. In the streets Cholet, emblematic Vendéen city, by the end of 1793, wolves were about the only living things left, roaming freely and feeding on the piles of decomposing corpses.

Le Vrai Visage de Marianne la Gueuse

Why has this site been created?

Because today, 200 years after the genocide ordered by the Convention, the official history of France still denies the real facts. Whatever the Republic's hagiographers may think, Marianne [female symbol of the French Republic] was a blood-crazed ogress. "La Gueuse" [the villainous woman] set out to slit the throats of the children she did not consider her own, and thereby encourage others to acknowledge her maternal authority. It was decided that the département of the Vendée should serve as an example to the other insubordinate areas (Brittany, Maine, Normandy, the South of France, etc). And once chastised, it was proposed that the rebellious region would be rebaptised "Vendée-Vengé" [Vendée-Revenge] (see the excellent book of the same title by Reynald Secher).

We were wondering about that...

Everyone's wondering what, exactly, has been causing global warming.

Some have said it is that there are now more MPs in the House of Commons than at any other time in British history. But this localised theory has been scoffed at by those who point out that at the same time, there are fewer and fewer Frenchmen around every year.

It's a mystery.

But now, the Optimum Population Trust has the solution, as Mr. Feschuk points out in Maclean's this week.

But now comes a voice of reason. Now comes the Optimum Population Trust, a British group with the courage to confront the real menace in the fight against global warming — tiny, little babies.

That's right: babies. Don't be fooled by their soft skin and angelic demeanour: cute, adorable babies are destroying the earth!

Straight from the womb, infants are an environmental menace. Almost immediately they begin to engage in profoundly selfish and destructive behaviour, such as exhaling. Plus, the Optimum Population Trust has uncovered shocking evidence that some of these so-called "babies" eventually grow larger and go on in life to do irresponsible things like drink water or exist.

"Pro-Quality of Life"

This was rather strangely tagged onto the end of a news story about efforts in the Philippines to put through a piece of legislation that would finally let the international population controllers get their claws in:

Recently, a priest in the Quiapo Church in Manila, was shocked to find a fetus inside a jar hidden in a basket of fruits offered during the Sunday morning Mass.

“It looked like a 4-month-old fetus. It had hands and feet. There was a rosary inside the bottle, too,” Msgr. Gerry

Same sh__ different year.

I love it when population control fanatics say things like "The Church should be working with us to find a common ground and improve the quality of life."

I'm with Benedict. There need to be more exorcists.

In Case You're Wondering What to Do When the Day Comes

When they kick out your front door
How you gonna come?
With your hands on your head
Or on the trigger of your gun

When the law break in
How you gonna go?
Shot down on the pavement
Or waiting in death row

You can crush us
You can bruise us
But you'll have to answer to
Oh, Guns of Brixton

The money feels good
And your life you like it well
But surely your time will come
As in heaven, as in hell

You see, he feels like Ivan
BORN under the Brixton sun
His game is called survivin'
At the end of the harder they come

You know it means no mercy
They caught him with a gun
No need for the Black Maria
Goodbye to the Brixton sun

You can crush us
You can bruise us
But you'll have to answer to
Oh-the guns of Brixton

When they kick out your front door
How you gonna come?
With your hands on your head
Or on the trigger of your gun

You can crush us
You can bruise us
And even shoot us
But oh- the guns of Brixton

Shot down on the pavement
Waiting in death row
His game was survivin'
As in heaven as in hell

You can crush us
You can bruise us
But you'll have to answer to
Oh, the guns of Brixton
Oh, the guns of Brixton
Oh, the guns of Brixton
Oh, the guns of Brixton
Oh, the guns of Brixton

The Catholic Revolt in the Vendée

Wiki:
The revolt in the Vendée was an 1793-1796 popular uprising against the Republican government during the French Revolution.

Variously known as the Uprising, Insurrection, Revolt, Vendéan Rebellion, or the Wars in the Vendée, it took place in the Vendée, a coastal region in west central France, and represented the largest internal counter-revolution to the new Republic.

Class differences were not as great in the Vendée as in the capital Paris and the other French provinces, and in rural Vendée, the local nobility seems to have been more residential and less bitterly resented than in other parts of France. The conflicts that drove the revolution were also lessened in this particularly isolated part of France by strong adherence of the populace to Roman Catholicism. There were outbreaks of anti-Republic violence in 1791 and 1792, as the peasants perceived that their position had worsened, not improved since the fall of the Ancien régime. It was not until the social unrest combined with the external pressures from the Civil Constitution of the Clergy (1790) and then the Conscription (or "Levy") Decree (1793) that the region erupted.

The Civil Constitution required all clerics to swear allegiance to it and by extension to the increasingly anti-clerical National Constituent Assembly. All but seven of the 160 bishops refused the oath, as did about half of the parish priests. Persecution of the clergy and the faithful was the first trigger of the rebellion; the second being conscription. Nonjuring priests were exiled or imprisoned. Women on their way to Mass were beaten in the streets. Religious orders were suppressed and Church property confiscated. On March 3, 1793, virtually all the churches were ordered closed. Sacramental vessels were confiscated by soldiers and the people were forbidden to place a cross on their graves.

The Vendean clergy were replaced by clergy appointed and approved by the Revolutionary authorities, known as jurors, who were almost universally disliked and condemned as intruders. Nonjuring priests declared the new civic ceremonies as false and worthless; in response gangs of Republicans came from the cities into the countryside, closing and vandalizing the churches of nonjuring priests.

The March 1793 conscription Vendeans to fill their district's quota of 300,000 enraged the populace, who took up arms as "The Catholic Army", "Royal" being added later, and fought for "above all the reopening of their parish churches with their former priests."

and everything we need to know about the Glorious French Republic:

A massacre of 6,000 Vendée prisoners, many of them women, took place after the battle of Savenay, along with the drowning of 3,000 Vendée women at Pont-au-Baux and 5,000 Vendée priests, old men, women, and children killed by drowning at the Loire River at Nantes in what was called the "national bath" - tied in groups in barges and then sunk into the Loire.

With these massacres came formal orders for forced evacuation; also, a 'scorched earth' policy was initiated: farms were destroyed, crops and forests burned and villages razed. There were many reported atrocities and a campaign of mass killing universally targeted at residents of the Vendée regardless of combatant status, political affiliation, age or gender.

Simon Schama: “Every atrocity the time could imagine was meted out to the defenseless population. Women were routinely raped, children killed, both mutilated. . . . At Gonnord . . . two hundred old people, along with mothers and children, [were forced] to kneel in front of a large pit they had dug; they were then shot so as to tumble into their own grave. . . . Thirty children and two women were buried alive when earth was shoveled onto the pit.”

Ah yes,

the Enlightenment.

crime contre l'Humanité

Facebook groups:

And

Which Google helpfully, though somewhat whimsically, translates:

There is no more Vendee, citizens Republicans. She died in our free sword, with his wives and children. I just bury it in the marshes and woods Savenay. Following the orders you have given my children crushed under the feet of horses, massacred women who, at least for them, n'enfenteront more than bandits. I am not a prisoner to blame me. I have all exterminated. The roads are sown with corpses: there are so many that on several places, they form pyramid. They shot repeatedly in Savenay; because at every moment he arrives robbers who claim to visit prisoners. It would give them the bread of freedom, and the pity is not revolutionary! "

Happy Bastille Day

Gerald Warner:
Bastille Day or, as the comic singers who take it seriously prefer to call it, the Fete de la Federation, is the embarrassing event that exposes the cultural, moral and constitutional bankruptcy of what was once the greatest civilisation in Europe.

When you are reduced to celebrating the murder by the canaille of Paris in 1789 of the French equivalent of the Chelsea Pensioners, you are inadvertently advertising the sinister origins of the dysfunctional state you are trying to prop up with a mythology as grotesque as it is pathetic. The Umpteenth French Republic is the one entity whose absorption by the European Union is not to be regretted.

Pompous parades will today celebrate the event that triggered the French Revolution, that is to say, the most appalling bloodbath anterior to the Russian Revolution. Seven prisoners were released from the Bastille - four counterfeiters, an accomplice to murder and two lunatics - whose return to the community was hardly beneficial. The attack on the prison, reserved for the well-off, was orchestrated by the Marquis de Sade and Camille Desmoulins on behalf of the Nine Sisters masonic lodge.

There followed the September massacres, the marriages republicains in which people of opposite sexes were stripped naked and lashed together in obscene postures before being drowned, mothers forced to watch their children being guillotined and the massacre of 400,000 Catholic royalists - the majority of them women and children - in La Vendee. Sounds like the perfect excuse for a celebratory knees-up.

There are two countries called France. One is the sluttish Republic - "Marianne" - the other is the timeless, civilised doyen of Christendom, the nation of Clovis and St Louis, of the Valois and Bourbon kings, the Catholic and monarchic civilisation that fell with Charles X in 1830 but still defiantly survives in many enclaves. That pulse will beat quietly today while the heirs of the sans-culottes strut their stuff, proclaiming French nationalism under the figurehead of a Hungarian president and his Italian wife.

It is all hollow, even on their terms: the lodges and the heirs of the Jacobins have migrated to Brussels and are working on a more ambitious project, still aimed at the de-Christianisation of Europe and the elimination of freedom and tradition. France without its monarchy and the Church of which it was proudly termed the Eldest Daughter is a desert.

Today is when the posturing Pantaloons bedecked with tricolour sashes enjoy their 15 minutes of fame. God send, at some time in the future - however distant - the restoration of the glittering monarchy whose downfall in blood is so vulgarly celebrated today. Long live the present-day heir of the Bourbons, the Duc d'Anjou, rightful King of France. Vive Louis XX.

So, France,

how's that whole Laïcité thing been working out for you, huh?
The last Christian in England.

Scardey Cat

An indoor puss all her life, Winnie the Cat ventures out...

Doesn't quite know what to make of it all.

It's just that somewhere deep in her little cat-heart, she knows there must be good stuff out here to kill...

If only she could get at it...

"...must kill...everything...smaller than...myself..."
