Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.

Egg tempera
Trying to teach myself classical egg tempera technique.
Annigoni is an elder deity of the medium.
Egg tempera is being revived, and I think it's the answer to the difficulties I've had painting the kinds of things I want to do.
The National Gallery in DC has quite a good collection of late Gothic/early Renaissance art. There's also quite a good collection at the Chicago Art Institute. I havent been, but I expect New York has a few.

ReplyDeleteI wonder where I can see egg tempera painting in the Middle Atlantic area USA.

ReplyDeleteRevived?? Iconographers never lost it.
ReplyDeleteLydia
I know. Thank God. Or the technique would have been completely lost.
