My ancestors, on my mother's side, were in the Raj, and of course, carried on the tradition of being more English than the English - and very in-your-foreign-face about it - in every colonial hell-hole they were posted in. My grandmother was born in Alexandria, my great aunt Pat in Rajputna and my great aunt Frances in New Delhi. I figure there's a book in it: 20th Century Colonial...
