OK, I admit it

I've started using Twitter.

  1. Twitter makes a wonderful sort of news service. I suspect I get more useful stuff from Twitter than almost any other source. That's "useful" in the how-ought-I-to-think-about-things sense; not the American how-to-build-your-own-toaster sense. It's a great way to keep up with periodicals, blogs, and writers in general. It gets a bad rep for the "Hi! I'm eating a sandwich." posts but those are easy to avoid. Then again, some folks can make having a sandwich interesting in 140 characters.

    Cheers,

  2. I've started following about half a dozen biology research facilities and natural history museums and researchers, news I probably couldn't get any other way. I use Facebook the same way, a constant feed of information from about a hundred different groups and people involved in the fight on both sides.
