Found some new nuns

So, I've been feeling the urge for a while now. Been looking around locally for some nice Benedictines to go visit and I've found these guys.

Benedictine Daughters of Divine Will
Might be an article in it.

And they're on Facebook, and are pretty friendly. I just sent a FB message and said, "You seem nice, can I come to hang out?" and they basically said, "Sure." I've got a couple of things on for the next few weekends, but I figure I'll take a train around the first weekend of Oct. Nearest town is Rimini, and I've never been to the Adriatic coast before, so that'll be cool.

They live in one of the teeniest towns I've ever spotted on Google Earth.

Every town in Italy seems to have at least one little odd thing they do that is their very own, unique tourist attraction. Talamello's seems to be a cheese pit.

Yep. It's exactly what it sounds like: a pit where they keep cheese.

Gonna go check it out. I'll report back later.

Love the nuns but isn't there some controversy surrounding Luisa Piccaretta?

Rimini - that is Romagna, not Liguria.

  4. So glad that they are open to you hanging out with them.

In a way it is sad that we have to search out fine religious orders. So hard to have them within arms reach as they were back 40 years ago or so.
I am grateful that my 14 year old daughter has had opportunities, here in Ontario, to attend yearly retreats with the Sisters of Our Lady Immaculate (SOLI) in Cambridge.
But that is not the norm for Catholic girls.

  5. Oh, I Love the SOLI sisters. I met them ages ago when I was still thinking seriously about it for myself, and really fell quite madly in love with the outfit. If you see Sr. Elizabeth, say hello.

  6. Will do!

I invited them at our parish a few years back for a CWL Women's day retreat and some of the women from the parish were scandalized that this order was saying bad things about yoga, reiki etc...
Solid order and I agree, they have a great outfit.
They tried to make a go out of it on Cape Breton Island - but that is the dicoese of Antigonish with too many issues. I think they have a residence/convent for those who study at OLSW in Barry's Bay.

  7. Uh, no. by "outfit" I meant "organisation," not what they wear.

I find their habit a little annoyingly modern. But they're Canadian, what can you expect?

  8. I thought Luisa Piccaretta was fully approved?
