John; so I had the cleverest evil search engine match hilary's copy to other pictures, and that's what came up, but the particular incident in question (which Teresa seems to know about) I'm afraid I never heard of. Why does the fellow writing look like an Oratorian?
But the point of a painting like this, O Hilary, is only half to remind people already in the know, and half so that other folk (like me!) will know to ask: what's going on here?.
