Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.

Antonio Guzmán Capel
Hate the cutsie-wootsy figures. Hoo boy! Really hate them quite a lot.
On one hand, I think they're incredible, obviously. But on the other hand, I kind of have to wonder what the point is, other than to exhibit highly technical skill. Other than that, aesthetically speaking, I see no reason why you would paint this way instead of photograph it. I'm talking hyper-realism, here, not classical realism like the paintings you posted here. Just wondering what your thoughts on hyper-realism are.

Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHilary, are you familiar at all with hyper-realists like Roberto Bernardi?

ReplyDeleteWOW! Some look like photos they are so real looking.
ReplyDeleteHyperrealism, photorealism, isn't art. It's just technique.
