Further to our discussion below...
this picture more or less illustrates what most people in North America think living in Europe is like.
Next thing I know you're going to tell me the guy in front is spending the summer eating deep-fried oreos at Midwest state fairs and power-washing his mom's house.
Rubbish! He's downing caviar on the Riviera. You can't fool me.
I think I do recognize the two gentlemen in the photo (from photos on other blogs), but I may be wrong. If I am not incorrect, the gentleman in the foreground is Christopher (Chris) Wells of PiusBlog, and the gentleman on the right of the photo is Gregory DiPippo, a contributor to the blog New Liturgical Movement.
When I think of Europe, I think of a magical place where I can take my children on a bicycle without the helmet police coming and taking them away. Please don't wreck my illusion.

Typical day for me. I hold my drink with my left hand, so I can greet and shake hands with my right.
