I've heard that in the old days, script writers were English majors. Nowadays, communications majors write the scripts.
ReplyDeletePerhaps that shows a greater emphasis on the media itself rather than the content of the media. In other words, writers now tend to be navel-gazers.
It really is true wat you see on MadMen - back in the '50s and '60s, everybody smoked ALL THE TIME!!

ReplyDeleteI have the first three seasons on DVD, and while there are gems (my favorite is "The Midnight Sun", which you linked earlier -- the paintings were done in wax), they do vary in quality quite a bit. Some are quite absurd.
