"Recent research from the United Kingdom finds that there the effect of children has been reversed; the presence of children, especially two or more children, raises the risk of divorce for recent marriage cohorts. The authors speculate that attitudes towards children may have changed; fathers may now be more likely to shirk their paternal responsibilities..."

It wasn't so very long ago that a family law judge out here (that's "divorce court" to normal people) told me that the fighting over children had just got too depressing to continue. The argument used to be "They're mine!" "No, they're mine; you're not fit to be a parent!"
ReplyDeleteNow it's "You take them; I have my own life to lead." No, you take them; I need fulfillment!" Or there's an amicable agreement to palm them off on grandma.
Cheers,
