Anyone else grow up in the 70's?

I have to say that after years and years of reading the same, trite, tired old rubbish about the Church, (over and over and over and...) something odd has happened in my brain (apart from having developed a very odd sense of humour).

It happens often enough that I think I need to invent a name for the phenomenon.

Tell me, when you read stuff like this:

The Italian-born former supermodel and third wife of Nicolas Sarkozy accused the Pope of "damaging" countries in Africa with his stance on condom use, apparently a reference to the Pope's remark during his March trip that the AIDS pandemic "can't be resolved with the distribution of condoms; on the contrary, there is the risk of increasing the problem." Bruni-Sarkozy told the women's magazine Femme Actuelle, "I was born Catholic, I was baptized, but in my life I feel profoundly secular. I find that the controversy coming from the Pope's message — albeit distorted by the media — is very damaging" .

does anything odd happen in your mental voice as you're reading it?

Cause lately, whenever I get to some stupid thing being said, I start hearing another voice drowning out the words I'm reading.

Like,

"...accused the Pope of 'damaging' countries in AfriWAH WAHWAH WAH WAHHH..."

It's not even that my brain is glazing over at the inane boileplate mush. I actually start thinking, loudly, WAHWAH WAH WAH WAAHHH...Like I'm channelling Peppermint Patty's teacher.

And I was never even that big a Peanuts fan when I was a kid. But there she is, in my brain saying, WAH WAHWAH WAH WAAHHHH...

Weird.

  1. I think Wahwah wah was what you got anytime a grown up spoke on Peanuts. As for Carla Bruni I think her problem is that she's like the village bicycle and the sight of Benedict makes her uneasy.
