Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.

Why doesn't she do something?
I don't know how many times I've explained it to people who say about the horrifying deterioration of Britishness under recent governments: "Why doesn't the Queen do something?"
Luxembourg's government plans to strip Grand Duke Henri's power to sanction laws after he signaled he would not sign a bill legalizing euthanasia.
So, because the Queen does not want to lose her power, she should not use her power. Doesn't sound like a lot of power to me. I guess she's just a figurehead. I guess that's because this is a Constitutional Monarchy.
having power you can't use means the same thing as not having power. This is something the Queen knows better than anyone.
But the reduction of the monarchy to a purely figurehead status is something (staring at Runnymede) that has only just been completed recently, during Her Majesty's reign. She is often blamed for having allowed it.
I don't know how much she could have done, given the universal trends in the west.
