Treasures of Trinita

I'm just figuring out how to use Picasa to manage my pics.

Took these the night before the Mass for the Immaculate Conception at Sanctissima Trinita dei Pellegrini. (It's good to be friends with the sacristan).

Gold and silver ewers and candlesticks and thuribles and precious books and cloth of gold vestments. No wonder the Visigoths thought Rome worth sacking.

We call this "the ugly chalice".

In St. Philip's Room, we have the great Pope Leo looking down on us. Keeps us 'umble.

Golden cruets, marked carefully on the top with a bunch of grapes, to ensure the server knows which is wine and which water.

Nice point about the Visigoths. I think my ancestors were Visigoths since I am easily distracted by shiny things.
