But Bishop, It's not about us, about our feelings, or our state of mind.

It's about Sacrilege.

"I think if a bishop is going to involve Canon 915, he has to know (the politicians), and speak with them or have the priest speak with them. Ultimata that come down from on high don't help anybody."

Let's see if we can help His Grace and figure out who it will help.

It will help the whole Church when the public scandal is finally ended of Bishops who have refused for decades to act in the face of brazen and obstinate manifest grave sin. Oh, and it might do something to address the public scandal of an entire political class who use their status as Catholics to get votes and then do things like vote for abortion, and gay "marriage" and carry on pretending to be "devout" Catholics.

It will help the faithful when they see that the Eucharist means something more than just a political photo op at election time.

And, Oh yeah, It will help the individual politician NOT GO TO HELL, which is what I thought all this Catholic stuff is supposed to be about.

"For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the Lord."

Are we forgetting that they place themselves in a state of mortal sin? And that the job of the shepherds is not to make them into better politicians, but to help them save their immortal souls?

Oh, I forget. That was the old Church.

This is the new.

"As a Jesuit principle, I have to put the best possible interpretation on my neighbour's proposition, then speak to him about it, and only then draw the line and say, 'Look, given your stubbornness on this position, I think you should not publicly receive communion until you change your mind'."

Very warm and friendly of you, I'm sure.

  2. OK Charlotte, Since I'm fairly sure you don't have any idea where you have blundered, in the interests of mercy, I'm going to show you to the borders of the camp and send you on your little way. And I'm going to tell the troops not to fire on you as you go. Just to show what nice people anti-choice extremists, homophobes and fascists can be.

But you should really go now, OK? So you don't hurt yourself, there's a ducks.
