Dr Rowan Williams told Radio 4's World at One that the UK has to "face up to the fact" that some of its citizens do not relate to the British legal system.
Dr Williams argues that adopting parts of Islamic Sharia law would help maintain social cohesion.
I think I've lost the capacity for speech...
I do believe, however, that we have a word in the good old Oxford dictionary for citizens who "do not relate" to the legal system.
We used to call them "criminals".
"An approach to law which simply said - there's one law for everybody - I think that's a bit of a danger."
...that's not the only danger, I'd say.
The fact they let Rowan Williams out of the house every day unsupervised, springs to mind.
The timing of this statement is interesting, too. I just posted on this in conjunction with a news report about an American woman living in Saudi Arabia who was arrested for going to Starbucks with a male co-worker in Riyadh.

God bless the Saudis, and all the proponents of Sharia law.

ReplyDeleteWasn't there once a sort of state-sponsored Instant Justice kit for people who 'do not relate' to the legal system? I think it would best have been advertised as:
