Suddenly,

I've started grinding my teeth.

And I hardly remember why.

Miss White,

I think your reaction is quite understandable, considering the less than courageous stand of the Canadian Conference. And all this time, even well before I became Catholic, I thought the responsibility of a bishop was to teach the Truth as delineated by the Church. I will continue praying for you and for your bishops.

Pax et bonum,

But this is good news, no? Six years later Archbishop Pendergast is standing up for more for life and I know Archbishop J. Michael Miller here in Vancouver is doing a frequently speaking out.

Don't know about the CCCB in general.....

Well, Ok. You're probably right.

It's just that I was in the room during that Senate Committee hearing and he looked straight at me when he said, "We can't tell you how to vote".

I was there because I had spent the previous two years of my life fighting that bill tooth and nail, day and night six days a week. During which time I had many conversations with the person in question and had foolishly assumed his support for the general gist of what I thought was our mutual project.

After his presentation to the committee (and it has taken me seven years to forget where to find the Hansard link) I left the building, walked to the train station, got on the train back to Toronto and went to the office and resigned. And asked never, EVER to be included in any pro-life political activity again ... for as long as I lived.

So, it's kind of hard to forget the feeling of the shiv between my shoulder blades.

I'm just funny that way.
